A secure energy supply is the backbone of the economy. The restructuring of the energy sector must be economically sustainable in order to ensure security of supply and affordable prices. This is why market-oriented solutions are needed in energy policy.

Secure and affordable energy supply and international interconnection
- A secure and competitive energy supply is of central importance for Switzerland as a business location.
- Switzerland’s energy supply must be designed along market-based principles. Permanent subsidies should be abolished.
- To ensure a reliable electricity supply, the electricity market must be opened and European interconnection strengthened.
- Companies’ energy efficiency should be increased through incentives rather than regulations (via target agreements in line with the model of the Energy Agency of Swiss Industry).
- A secure and affordable energy supply and an intact environment are key location factors. Natural resources must be used responsibly.
