What it is about
The DaziT transformation program of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) has been running since 2018. This comprehensive project will run until the end of 2026 and has three main objectives: the simplification and digitalization of customs processes and the organizational development of the customs administration. In principle, economiesuisse welcomes this modernization. It contributes to reducing the administrative and financial burden on Swiss companies and promotes the competitiveness of Switzerland as a business location. economiesuisse is actively committed to ensuring that DaziT is implemented in the interests of the economy and effectively simplifies matters for the companies concerned.
DaziT will bring many changes for the economy in a wide variety of areas. Firstly, with the introduction of the new Passar goods movement system, the IT systems in the individual companies will have to be adapted. Secondly, new legal framework conditions apply with the new customs law. Thirdly, the new assessment procedures result in new administrative processes and deadlines. Consequently, the Swiss economy active in foreign trade is directly affected by DaziT to a large extent and in many different ways. The changes made necessary by DaziT require large one-off financial and personnel resources from the individual companies. For this reason, economiesuisse considers the active involvement of the business community at a technical and strategic level to be essential. Timely and continuous information on the various sub-projects is the only way to ensure timely implementation within companies and successfully implement DaziT.
